Beretta becomes the latest company to join in a 'gun control exodus'. It is planning its departure from Maryland, a state whose politicians have shown disdain for their product by passing legislation last week that makes it illegal for some of their products to be sold in their state but still legal to be sold outside their borders.
Thank you, Beretta, for providing the products that enable our 2nd Amendment rights and for choosing to conduct your business elsewhere, where your tax dollars will be better appreciated and your business more respected.

More on what I'm calling the "gun control exodus".
PTR Industries, a firearms manufacturer, is planning to leave Connecticut, taking its tax revenue and many of its employees with it to an as-yet-undermined new location.

Colorado certainly isn't immune to the gun control exodus. This article talks about Magpul Industries, HiViz Shooting Systems and Outdoor Channel relocating operations from Colorado and loss of a reality series to Phoenix as a result of Colorado's aggressively pushed and overly restrictive gun control laws.

Colorado is already losing hunting revenues too over their recently passed gun control legislation.
' "hunting had an almost $800,000,000 impact on Colorado in 2012, driving as many as 8,330 jobs," according to statistics provided to him from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. '
' "Legislation-wise, the outdoor community has no voice in Washington, D.C., said Atkinson. "We didn't have a voice in our own state, even though we represent 80 percent of the nonresident dollars that comes into this state to purchase licenses for the state of Colorado. There was nothing we could do," '

As Beretta USA continues its plans to leave Maryland, it has ruled out West Virginia for relocation due to Senator Joe Manchin's (Dem, WV) proposed gun control legislation.
Two different sites posted this on their Facebook pages today.
"Maryland-based firearm manufacturer Beretta USA will not relocate its operations to West Virginia, despite courting from state lawmakers and municipalities around the state. Beretta's general counsel Jeffrey Reh blamed Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., for the company's decision. "... especially due to Senator Manchin's recent legislative choices we have decided not to consider your State for our future plans of expansion," he wrote."

New York's "Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE)" law may be responsible for driving jobs and revenue out of the state. North Carolina-based Remington Arms has a substantial manufacturing plant in New York that it's looking to move to Tennessee as part of the ongoing exodus of firearms companies from unfriendly gun control states to more friendly 2nd Amendment / gun rights supporting states.

The New York Times doesn't use my term, "gun control exodus," but it does describe some of the activity in this article. It mentions:
- Beretta to expand outside of its home state of Maryland, looking at South Carolina, Texas and Virginia;
- Colt will stay in Connecticut but is shown in another article to be growing in Tennessee (see related blogs);
- Kahr Firearms Group moving from New York to Pennsylvania;
- Magpul moving outside Colorado;
- PTR moving from Connecticut to South Carolina;
- Sturm, Ruger & Company to expand outside of Connecticut including in North Carolina;

Following in my footsteps, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has described the departure of firearms related businesses from anti-gun states as an "exodus". This article covers much of what I've written about in this blog.
In addition to the companies I've listed previously, Remington is also mentioned.
