US Senate Votes on Gun Control Amendments - Good News / Bad news - All 7 Failed

April 17, 2013

Fox News Breaking News: "A bipartisan proposal to expand background checks to gun shows and Internet sales fails in the Senate in a 54-46 vote, in major setback for gun control push."

This is just one of the amendment proposals. Stand by as the attack on our 2nd Amendment rights continues.

NRA Tweet: "@SenFeinstein gun ban amendment fails 40-60! It doesn't even get a simple majority! Victory for gun owners! #NRAStandAndFight"

Do you get it Dianne? You're been actively and aggressively lying to people. You've been focusing on your decades old agenda instead of trying to solve real problems with "common sense" and "reason". And the American people and your peers in the US Senate know it!

===
Breaking Hypocrisy: "@cnnbrk: #Obama: The #gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the [background check] bill."

President Obama has rarely, if ever, spoken about about gun control or gun violence since Sandy Hook Elementary without lying.

ME: President Obama's speech, reacting to the defeat of the gun control background check proposal in the US Senate, is over now. It's almost shocking how many of his own words and pleas could be turned against him and his administration.
  • His insistence, today and earlier, that the families of the victims deserve to be heard, etc. borders on being offensive. They've been heard, Mr. President. We can't help but hear them while you, the First Lady and Congressmen have put them in front of the cameras, escorted them around Capitol Hill and ferried them on Air Force One every time you've thought it advantageous to your agenda. You're not only pushing for people to make decisions emotionally instead of based upon facts, which you and other gun control advocates have persistently distorted and lied about, but you're being hypocritical of Republicans when you accuse them of political gimmicks, etc. Your gimmicks in support of gun control, including surrounding yourself with children who don't understand the issues and by victims' families and by line of duty police officers who don't agree with your proposals or agenda, are distasteful and opportunistic. And what about the victims' families from Benghazi, Mr. President? Where are the victims themselves? Why haven't you dragged them around with you and put them in the public eye? Have you forgotten that your Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who you couldn't help fawning over as she relinquished her office, said that the circumstances of our US Ambassador and others 'didn't matter'? Why do the circumstances of their deaths not matter to your administration while the circumstances at Sandy Hook do? Is it possible that one serves your agenda and one does not? Is it possible that one is politically helpful to you and one is politically hurtful? I've noticed news reports since the Boston Marathon Bombing telling of how in touch you've been with investigative agencies over those 3 deaths and many injuries. Why hasn't your administration been able to show an equal concern of yours over the events in Benghazi?

  • JC: Well said, well said.

"@NRA: Lautenberg-Blumenthal magazine ban fails 46-54! #NRAStandAndFight"

Where was the "common sense" and "reason" from Senate gun control advocates today when opposing these 2 amendments?

Burr protection of veterans’ gun rights amendment – Failed 56-44
Cornyn right-to-carry reciprocity amendment – Failed 57-43

What is unreasonable about protecting the constitutional rights of veterans who are unfairly, unjustly and unconstitutionally being deprived their 2nd Amendment rights without due process?

What is unreasonable about ensuring law abiding gun owners with concealed carry licenses are not made criminals for the exact same behavior simply by crossing state lines?

Could it be that it was never about "common sense" and "reason", and that's it's always been about politics? Could these "Nay" votes have been backlash for their favored restrictions having failed?

The others voted on today that also failed:

Manchin-Toomey-Schumer proposal - Failed 54-46
Grassley-Cruz-Graham substitute amendment – Failed 52-48
Leahy-Collins trafficking amendment – Failed 58-42
Feinstein gun & magazine ban amendment – Failed 40-60
Launtenberg-Blumenthal magazine ban amendment – Failed 46-54
