Colorado: Women Demeaned - Cannot Determine When or How to Defend Themselves

February 19, 2013

Congratulations, ladies, you've been demeaned again. This time by Colorado Democratic lawmaker Joe Salazar.

Apparently, a woman who feels the natural emotion of fear associated with the potential for being raped, is incapable of making the distinction between a real and perceived threat and cannot be trusted to make the decision to protect herself with a firearm.

“And you don’t know, if you feel like you’re going to be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around, or if you feel like you’re in trouble, and when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop around that somebody,”

Don't worry though...

“That’s why we have call boxes, that’s why we have safe zones, that’s why we have whistles, because you just don’t know who you’re going to be shooting at,”

Gun control advocate lawmakers in Colorado seem certain enough of the patience and consideration of your attackers to gamble with your personal safety. I'm not from Colorado. Maybe the rapists and other criminals there will allow you to move to a call box, place a call, and wait there for a white knight to arrive.

This pertains to one of several bills currently moving through the Colorado state legislature. This one in particular disallows concealed carry on college campuses that is legal elsewhere in the state. That's right, it's another ringing of the dinner bell for criminals. Women and people in general on college campuses will be unable, by law, to defend themselves in the manner that citizens not on campus can. This is proliferation of more "gun free" zones that are neither gun free nor safe and that ensures a higher chance of success with less resistance for criminals.

Another 'don't worry' item. The University of Colorado has some good advice for you female students. Among other things, they suggest:

"Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.
If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.
Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.
Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone."

That's right, "passive resistance." Just 'take it like a girl.' Disgusting!

I don't know who Michelle Malkin is but this has been covered by many websites today.
