Demonstration Against New York's "SAFE" Law

February 16, 2013

A 9:38 video of a pro 2nd Amendment rights demonstration in New York in response to passage of the "Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act (SAFE)" gun control legislation there.

I'm sharing this because I got a laugh out of the "Tyranny Response Team" jacket, made to look like an FBI or ATF jacket, that appears around 1:14. (This link should be queued to that moment.)

I don't particularly recommend watching the video. It's full of strong, aggressive gun rights rhetoric but doesn't include any content that will sway someone from their already held beliefs. So don't watch the whole thing unless you want to see some of the gun rights emotion and the hundreds, or maybe thousands, of people who attended and took a typical "oath" together to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States" - like every politician, service member or law enforcement officer does throughout their careers.

Incidentally, gotta love that "SAFE" acronym New York came up, don't you? Typical PR spin. I have many memories of sitting around conference tables trying to come up with interesting acronyms by which to name products or programs. It's all part of the "campaign" of promoting your thing, whatever it is. Thousands of employees at my former employer were impacted by the "CARE" program - helping them deal with forced job reassignments with potential job loss. I did look an HR person in the eye when I told her the program name was insulting to those it affected. I didn't know until then that she was the one who came up with it. :)
