Even more moronic statements by this Bozo, Superintendent McCarthy, parading around in a Chicago police uniform.
I'm a little more skeptical of this source. WND sometimes puts out good info and opinions but can drift toward more extremist views and pot stirring. Putting that skepticism aside, these statements are perfectly in keeping with those reported by the Washington Times. I shared that post yesterday.
“Despite recent court decisions to the contrary, McCarthy opined that the Second Amendment limits citizens to owning smooth-bore muskets. McCarthy went on to say that he believes that the Second Amendment supports mandatory liability insurance for firearm owners and the mandatory application of GPS tracking devices to civilian owned firearms.”
Mandatory GPS? Can you say "invasion of privacy?" Does he realize that "smooth-bore muskets" were military-grade firearms of the time. Using this logic, "all MEN are created equal." Sorry ladies, you don't count because our founding documents didn't spell it out on your behalf.
“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms. People who are not highly trained … putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire, and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”
Is this consistent with the 'training' of police officers before concealed carry being legal in the city? Has Chicago had a 'shoot first, ask questions later' approach to dealing with actual criminals? Or is he, like actual criminals, just preying on softer targets, law abiding citizens, for personal gain? His gain is to make his political statement and forward his personal agenda. As far as I'm concerned, "more shootings" is okay when it's the bad guys who are getting shot by law abiding citizens in self defense.
