This video is a dramatization but it illustrates the point well - the government has no business limiting how many rounds of ammunition should be lawfully allowed in our firearms' magazines.
Remember those words, that mantra, 'if there's anything we can do to save even one life, we have to try'? What about the lives of those that will be lost because they didn't have enough ammunition in their magazines to defend themselves, their families or others?
This video shows 2 attackers and 7 rounds - the current lawful limit in New York. As you'll see, it's not enough. And what if there was a 3rd attacker?

Don't think it's realistic that the defender would use 6 rounds on the first attacker? Think again. Besides the fact that most bullets miss their targets under extreme circumstances, even when fired by trained police or military, consider that in January 2013 a mother fired all 6 shots from her revolver, hitting a single home invader 5 times in the face and neck area and that the intruder still walked out of the house and drove away. In this case, it was enough to escape from the single attacker. If there was an accomplice the mother probably wouldn't be alive today.

Magazine capacity limits and bans only effect law abiding people and with a negative impact on their safety and ability to defend themselves.

"The president also cited the example of Brian Murphy, a police officer in Wisconsin who was the first to arrive at a Sikh Temple in the wake of a shooting rampage there last August. Murphy sprang into action, keeping the shooter contained until help arrived "even though he was lying there bleeding from 12 bullet wounds." "
That's right - 12 bullet wounds and still fighting back. That puts Officer Murphy into the hero category. It also points out that bad guys have more than 10 bullets and it's NOT "common sense" or "reason" to limit law abiding people with artificial restrictions. A lot has been said about the mother who protected herself and her two children earlier this year from a home invader by firing all 6 rounds from her revolver at the intruder. He was hit 5 times in the face and neck and still walked out of the house and drove away. This officer was hit 12 times and was still alive, coherent and fighting. Ten-round ammunition magazine capacity limits only serve to hurt and endanger law abiding people. Criminals will not restrict themselves when they're determined to commit crime or evil.
