The Taxpayer Cost of Gun Control and Other Folly

May 7, 2013

I've mentioned a few times the cost to taxpayers of the gun control push by gun control advocating politicians nationally and among the states. There's no doubt it's at least in the millions and maybe tens or hundreds of millions just when you consider the the time spent on the issues to both support and defend against the legislative proposals - time spent by both the primary figures and their staffs. Millions of letters, phone calls, faxes and emails have been received by politicians. Someone is receiving, sorting, counting and answering that mail. Now even though all the major gun control legislation has failed in the US Senate, they're still not giving up. They're convinced of their own moral superiority and insist on infringing upon that which "shall not be infringed" and on controlling the rights of 300 million people.

This article is the first I've seen that talks about the cost issue and it doesn't limit it to the cost of pushing gun control. Mayor Michael Bloomberg's food policies in New York City are also spotlighted. No attempt it made to quantify the cost. I'd consider this more of an opinion piece but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who saw this.
