Anti-Gun Restrictions on Shooting Ranges

May 16, 2013

The attacks on 2nd Amendment rights and the businesses that support them continue. This time in Atlanta, Georgia as anti-gun people there try to put unfair restrictions on shooting ranges.

Has anyone ever heard of shooting ranges acting as magnets for crime? I have to acknowledge that there has been a crime at a shooting range recently. Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle was murdered at an outdoor shooting range. This is the only instance I've ever heard of.

In spite of that, these people see the mere existence of a shooting range as a "public safety" issue. Really? Does crime occur in residences that they want to distance this range from? Is there no domestic violence in Atlanta? They don't want to "expose children to guns". Really? Are the police officers and security guards in Atlanta disarmed? Do they not celebrate Memorial Day there - where we honor our military service members? Do they not celebrate Independence Day - which was won at the end of a gun? Do they not use fireworks - you know, those explosives that so many enjoy? Do these people shield their children from war in their history books and libraries and from watching gun use on television and video games?

Children are exposed to guns everywhere in our society. Get over it. Teach them to NOT be afraid of them. Teach them how they're used to PROTECT them. Teach them to be responsible about them - and that doesn't include hating or fearing them or the people who possess, carry or use them lawfully.
