As articles that discuss gun control and gun crime statistics go, this one is short. It didn't need to be long to make its point - gun control laws don't work. Cases in point are in FBI statistics showing California as compared to Texas and Utah; and Washington DC.
It'll take very few minutes to read it. I recommend you do.

Here's another of those articles that briefly discusses firearms-related statistics. It doesn't go into any real detail but does mention some of the commonly known and used stats used in the gun control debate and shows some of the misleading ways that they've been used.
"For instance, Morgan continues to claim that Britain, a country that happens to have firearms banned, only produced 35 gun-related homicides in 2011.
Sure, but looking at the overall picture, Britain is actually second in the European Union when it comes to crime rates. The UK also has the fifth highest robbery rate, and fourth highest burglary rate; to top it off, the EU declared Britain the most violent country out of all European countries.
As SLN reported, “However, according to the CATO Institute and FBI statistics, when guns were banned in the UK, armed robbery rates jumped 40%. In Australia, armed robbery rates increased 40%. The statistics also show that the majority of robberies in the UK happen when people are home, which is 50% of the time.”
Interestingly, Britain’s violent crimes rate is 2,034 per 100,000 people compared to the United States’ 466 violent crimes per 100,000 people.
As Fox19’s Ben Swann pointed out, the U.S. has the highest gun ownership in the world – 88 guns per 100 people. Although the U.S. has the highest gun ownership, America is 28th in the world when it comes to gun homicides; 2.97 per 100,000 people."http://www.spreadlibertynews.com/worldwide-u-s-ranks-1st-in-gun-ownership-and-28th-in-gun-homicide-ron-paul-says-resent-and-resist/

I posted this earlier today and then was listening to The Five on Fox News and they briefly discussed gun statistics. They didn't cover these particular ones, instead focusing on how gun control advocates often treat all gun-related deaths the same and demonize all gun use, which artificially inflates the numbers (murder, suicide, negligence, self defense, police shootings). It was being discussed because of this week's snafu by Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) who sponsored demonstrations about gun death by reciting the names of victims of gun violence and included Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the list.
Tsarnaev is the older of the two Boston Marathon Bombing brothers who was killed while on the run from police in the days following the bombing. His cause of death was by a combination of gunshots from police officers and being run over by his younger brother with an SUV while he attempted escape. Not only was his death not (exclusively) by gunshot but he is most certainly NOT a victim of gun violence!
MAIG got the list from another source and recited it without doing any assessment of its comments. I've heard that they've since apologized. The original source of the list has not apologized. Apparently they're among those who demonize firearms in general and think that every death by gun is a tragedy.

One of female hosts of The Five also mentioned that Michael Bloomberg's MAIG group should change its name to "Mayors Against Guns" to more accurately reflect their stance. I agree.

This just in...
Former Los Angeles Police Officer Christopher Dorner and several other criminals who died in shootouts with police were also included in that list. This article identifies 10 of them and includes the apologetic statement from a MAIG representative.
