This seems like a bad idea to me. What do you think?
Carrying at least 1000 loaded firearms in a march on Washington DC where gun laws are very strict? And if those rifles are loaded with 30-round or other so-called "high capacity" magazines? In this case it feels like trying to pick a fight unnecessarily.

According to this latest article, 900 people have RSVP'd for this march. That's 90% of the way to the 1000 that were mentioned in the first article as being necessary for Kokesh to conduct the march. This second article, however, claims he needs 10,000. Typo in one of the articles? Or has he changed his mind and up'd the stakes as it came closer to being real?

If this article is accurate then it provides even more reason to NOT participate in the armed march on Washington DC on Independence Day, July 4th, 2013.

When I first read about Adam Kokesh's intent to march on Washington DC with loaded firearms, some of which may have been in violation of DC laws, I immediately thought it was a bad idea that would do little to advance the debate in favor of gun rights. I made the comment to a friend that the same effect could be accomplished with a march that included toy guns. Apparently someone was listening or arrived at the same idea.
This article is about a Toy Gun March on Washington DC that occurred last Wednesday, July 3rd, the day before Kokesh's march was to take place on July 4th, Independence Day. Turnout looks to have been quite small but at least they had some fun supporting multiple good causes including the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.
But "Just to be sure things didn’t get out of hand, a U.S. Park Police SWAT team observed the entire event from about 50 feet away, as a helicopter circled the area. The officers even confirmed that they were there for the Toy Gun March."

Kokesh's march was cancelled as a large event but he posted a YouTube video of what became his one-man march with him loading an 'assault' shotgun on the streets of DC.

Looks like Adam Kokesh found the legal trouble he was looking for. He was arrested yesterday for drug possession while also possessing a firearm. Now he could have 10-12 years to think about whether there was a better way to make his point.
I've never felt right about Kokesh. His rhethoric was too extreme or fringe or me. But even if he thought he was doing good, even if he actually was doing good, how dumb do you have to be to taunt the police with a YouTube video of you openly breaking the law and then having possession of illegal drugs in the following days? Pretty dumb - unless the whole thing was a cry for help.
I don't know if the firearm they found him with was the same one used in the video.
