Five Maryland citizens have surpassed the limit of their patience in waiting for firearms permits from the state. What the state is supposed to process in 7 days per their laws has taken 55 days. Now it's time for legal action, so they, along with 3 companies, have filed suit. I hope it's costly for the state of Maryland and that others learn from it.

I don't think this will be the last of these suits that we see. My crystal ball says this issue will be raised in Illinois, where they're dragging their feet at implementing a concealed carry law even under a federal court judge's order. They have until June of this year to have one in place or the state resorts to "constitutional carry" with no restrictions. They definitely don't want that in the Illinois legislature!
I recently read an article and discussion that the process for getting a Firearms Owners Identification Card (FOID) in Illinois can take up to 4 months. They're supposed to have then done in a month or less, but the process, as currently designed, takes up to 4 months depending upon the timing of the submission. There are 2 steps in the process that, by design, only occur monthly. That and the backlog of tens of thousands of FOID requests are keeping them WAY behind in processing the applications in time.
That's right - tens of thousands of FOID applications in Illinois! There's a whole state besides Chicago that doesn't quite agree with the Chicago mayor, or Chicago Police Superintendent, or Illinois legislature.
Here's a very short article on the subject but it's not the same one I read earlier. Can't find that one.
