Colorado Attempts Recall of Gun Control Lawmakers

May 11, 2013

My friends in Colorado might want to seek out these petitions and get their names on them.

It sure would be a shame if these lawmakers, Representative Mike McLachlan and state Senators Angela Giron, Evie Hudak and John Morse, found themselves jobless as a direct result of their infringement on constitutionally provided 2nd Amendment rights. (NOT!) Especially Hudak after her completely insensitive and self righteous remarks to a rape victim during the hearings.

If any of my Colorado friends live in Senate District 11, you may want to find one of these petition signing locations and add your name to it and encourage your friends to do the same.

The NRA and other gun rights supporting groups are calling for a special election to remove Colorado Senate President John Morse who led the gun control initiatives passed earlier this year by the Democratic controlled legislature there. A recall may or may not work but sending a strong message that infringing on our constitutional rights is unacceptable is certainly appropriate.

It appears there's a lot of interest in recalling Democratic Colorado Senate President John Morse after he led the anti-gun campaign and pushed gun control bills through the Colorado legislature.

According to this article, "Organizers said they turned in more than 16,000 signatures, well in excess of the 7,178 valid signatures needed to force the recall and even more than the 13,866 votes received by Mr. Morse in the 2010 election."

Ahem, "...more than the ... votes received ... in the 2010 election." Could that be? Could he have received more signatures for recall than he did to obtain his office? Wouldn't this be a bittersweet moment for gun rights and a very strong message to gun control advocates nationwide? Make it so.

I meant to comment on another quote from this article.

"The Washington-based Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee fired off a statement Monday describing organizers as “extremists in Colorado who want to waste hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars.” "

I think it needed emphasis that the DLCC thinks that a grass roots citizen effort (admittedly supported by the NRA but not led by them) is "extremist" and "wasting hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars" in their support of our constitutionally provided 2nd Amendment rights.

Does the hypocrisy get any thicker? The whole gun control agenda is being pushed by extremists who are determined to ignore the US Constitution and Bill of Rights - the parts of it that they don't agree with - and are spending MILLIONS of taxpayer dollars doing it at the federal, state and local levels.

Democratic Colorado Senate President John Morse seems well armed with fighting slogans as he opposes his own recall, doesn't he?

“This is a hill worth dying on,” Morse said. “This is a fight worth having; it’s a fight we’ve already had on the floor of the Senate; it’s a fight worth winning.” "

I wonder if he's familiar with the expression "falling on your sword". Maybe he'll figure it out about the time he's being escorted from his office. As for that "it’s a fight we’ve already had on the floor of the Senate" thing - that was an ambush in which testimony was ignored and procedurally denied through the structure of the hearings. It was also unconstitutional in its result. Let's not forget that little detail.

Colorado Democratic lawmakers seemed anxious to make history when pushing through gun control, didn't they? How's this for history? "We’ve obtained enough signatures to recall a state legislator for the first time in the history of Colorado."

I particularly liked this protest. "And we’ll file some protests with the Secretary of State’s office because we know a lot of these signatures were gathered based on misinformation and lies." I have no idea if that's true or even to what he's specifically referring to. But is he serious with this "based on misinformation and lies" thing? That's the stock-in-trade of the whole gun control agenda! Without "misinformation and lies" they'd have no foundation for their misleading and misguided arguments. More hypocrisy from the gun control crowd.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/04/recall-looms-for-colorado-lawmaker-who-supported-gun-control-bill/

It appears that 2 of the Colorado recall efforts failed - those against Representative Mike McLachlan and Senator Evie Hudak. A 4th one against Senator Angela Giron is pending.

There's another interesting Morse quote in this article - "Keeping Coloradans safe from gun violence is very worth your political career." More than anything else, this shows that he just doesn't get it! Nothing about the gun control laws passed in Colorado will keep people safe! Criminals will not abide by them! Guns, magazines, ammunition, accessories are all plentiful in circulation and are all readily available through various means. Criminals aren't going to count their bullets to abide by Colorado's ridiculous laws. The effect of these laws will be to ENDANGER potential victims by not giving them the means to protect themselves from a determined attacker who has the advantages of planning, preparation, surprise and resolve. Let's hope that Morse loses his political career and has ample time to reflect on his misguided and dangerous actions.

Hmmm. A politician who faces a recall election puts out an ad asking she not be recalled. The 30-second ad contains factually inaccurate and misleading information and makes no mention whatsoever of the reason the recall election was forced upon her in the first place. I guess that's how they roll in Colorado, at least among gun control supporting politicians.

More of the same but about Colorado Senator John Morse instead of Colorado Senator Angela Giron.

Tomorrow is a big day in Colorado. It's election day or, perhaps more appropriately, recall day!

Tuesday, September 10th, Colorado voters head to the polls for the recall election affecting state Senators John Morse and Angela Giron, two Democratic legislators who did not listen to the will of the people in their districts when voting for tyrannical gun control measures earlier this year.

Colorado has been a major battle ground for months as signatures were gathered to force the recall elections; that signature campaign was challenged by gun control advocates; money poured in from out of state with ties back to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his less-than-credible Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) group and elsewhere; Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America got involved in a telephonic campaign to urge voters to vote against the recall; etc.

As is now ordinary for the deeply entrenched sides of the gun rights / gun control debate, gun control advocates can't help but resort to their usual tactics. They're misinforming people and making emotional appeals rather than logical arguments supported by data virtually every time they open their mouths or produce their propaganda for their campaign of disinformation. But it's gotten worse than that. See these two links for proof of foul play on the part of the 'gun grabbers' as they remove the pro-recall signage, which I'm pretty sure is a criminal offense, and stuff ballot boxes in what is supposed to be an in-person only election. A previous legal judgment had been made that the mailed ballots could not be produced correctly in time. An exception was made for those out of state or under hardship which appears to be being exploited illegally. Can you say "voter fraud"?

http://bearingarms.com/apparent-cheating-continues-in-colorado-recall-elections/

Part of the disinformation campaign includes demonizing the dreaded National Rifle Assocation (NRA) for this recall election. The truth is that the NRA supports the recall but did not start it. It truly was a grass-roots initiative by Colorado voters and they've taken credit for that in the news after the NRA was inaccurately being blamed or heralded for it. But besides outraged voters in what has mostly been thought of as a 'wild west' state, there's also support for the recall by 6 of Colorado's county sheriffs.

http://bearingarms.com/colorado-sheriffs-join-recall-of-anti-gun-state-senators/

Here's some early news on the recall effort...

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57589956/colo-senator-who-pushed-for-gun-control-may-lose-job/

showing that more than enough signatures were collected and...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/19/recall-effort-against-morse-deemed-sufficient/

in fact more than twice as many as needed were collected.

Somewhere in all the news articles on the topic it points out that Senator John Morse could have resigned his seat and allowed the Democratic party to select his replacement, thereby keeping their hold on the legislature, but he declined to do so even though he had already announced he would not re-run for office at the expiration of this term. It also mentions that the recall effort originally targeted 4 Democratic lawmakers but 2 of those did not gather sufficient signatures.

Colorado voters, get out and vote tomorrow - in favor of the recall of both politicians. Send a message nationwide that we will not accept an infringement of our constitutional rights and those who attempt to do so will be held accountable!

Colorado's state senator, John Morse, thinks his recall opponents lie, cheat and steal. I don't know if that's true or not, but I ask, how is that different than the lies told during the gun control debate? How is it different that the cheating done by the Colorado legislature, of which he is the Senate majority leader, who very restrictively limited debate, invited outside influence into the state debate, and scheduled committee hearings so that county sheriffs could not participate as they desired to? How is it different than following the influence of Washington DC, Vice President Joe Biden and out of state gun control advocating groups instead of the citizens they were responsible for representing? And how is it different from the two cases of cheating and theft mentioned in my last post on this topic (with links provided)?

This is a short article that's worth a quick read. Note the hypocrisy pointed out by the last paragraph.

It's time for Senator John Morse and others like him to go. Vote to recall him and his kind, Colorado.

Here's an interesting look at #Colorado politics. Any wonder why there's a #recall election going on there today?
