New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Acknowledges Low Deaths Related to "Assault Weapons" or "High Capacity" Magazines

March 10, 2013

It appears Mayor Michael Bloomberg isn't completely ignorant of some of the facts. This interview does show remarkably self-serving perspectives though. His wording of things is very interesting. This 9:13 video covers the sequester, so-called "assault weapons", so-called "large capacity" magazines, background checks, and large portion sizes of soda.

"The truth of the matter is only about 400 people a year get killed with assault weapons or high-capacity magazines," he said. "That is 400 too many, and they're all tragedies. But you compare that to handguns, pistols this year are going to kill 12,000 Americans. And 19,000 Americans are going to commit suicide with handguns."
