Firearms CONFISCATION Has Happened Recently in US History and is Being Considered Now

I recently commented on a friend’s FB post about another topic, “…The one exception is the attack on our 2nd Amendment rights, about which I have been very vocal since the post-Newtown frenzy.” Another person followed my comment with, ”…Been too busy with 2nd amendment issues to pay much attention to this sequester nonsense.” We were both then challenged by another commenter with “How many guns have you both had to surrender?” Here’s my reply:
“Uh, [name], that 'no one is demanding you turn in your guns' rhetoric is untruthful. It HAS HAPPENED in our RECENT history. There are at least 4 states considering bills this year that include confiscation. And there's Senator Dianne Feinstein's famous "turn 'em all in" quote. The English and Australian experiences (confiscation) have also been upheld as a model by gun control advocates in our country. It is their agenda and has been their agenda for decades. This isn't even open to interpretation. "No one is demanding you turn in your guns" is an outright lie. It's in print in their bills and on video.”
Read and watch for yourselves at these links. The WND article hosts 2 videos, 9:05 and 10:17, actually showing New Orleans police confiscating firearms in the post-Katrina chaos. The US Supreme Court has upheld that it is an individual’s right to defend themselves with firearms under our 2nd Amendment. So in New Orleans when crime was off the charts and police were far too undermanned to do anything about it, they spent their precious resources knocking on doors and confiscating firearms from the law abiding citizens while criminals were assaulting and looting all around them. When people needed their firearms most, they were deprived of them by local government. And according to the testimony of those affected, some never had their firearms returned and others watched them be destroyed by police. Can you say "illegal search and seizure" and "violation of 2nd Amendment rights"?
