Colorado Democrats Withdraw Ban on College Concealed Carry

March 20, 2013

Even in the shadow of the bad news for Colorado citizens, there is a glimmer of light. This article is from yesterday. I’m commenting on it separately from today’s earlier news because of a single paragraph near the end of the article that I hadn’t seen anywhere else.

“Two more Democratic gun control bills were withdrawn when they appeared to lack support for passage. Those included a new liability standard for gun owners and sellers, and a ban on concealed weapons on public college campuses.”

Both of these are 2nd Amendment rights wins! The one concerning concealed carry on campuses is particularly noteworthy. I haven’t seen anything else on this withdrawal though and I don’t know the current state of the law for Colorado campuses. I’m assuming that it’s currently legal to carry concealed firearms on college campuses with a license and that this means the current threat to removing that ability is over, at least for now. That suggests that there were some people actually listening to the legitimate appeals of people, including a rape victim, supporting campus concealed carry and to the ridiculous statements by Colorado law makers regarding women’s ability to determine a threat and the equally ridiculous ‘safety’ alternatives being pushed.

Note the typical gun control nonsensical rhetoric earlier in the article - "spraying of bullets".
