LTC Dave Grossman on Violence in Schools

January 4, 2012

Glenn Beck's interview of US Army LTC (Ret) Dave Grossman about violence in schools and the desensitization and conditioning for violence (negative influence) of youth. I became aware of LTC Grossman a few years ago but didn't follow his work or listen to his interviews until post-Sandy Hook. He is someone people should listen to. Even if you don't agree with everything he says, keep listening. He's not a one-trick pony. This interview focused on violent video games and, to a lesser degree, Hollywood violence. I've seen other interviews he's given where he talks about the mental illness issue and where he compares preparation for fire in our schools vs. lack of preparation of violent events and about the need to harden our schools (physical protection measures).

LTC Grossman is a respected expert in his field. He is a former US Army Ranger and Psychology Professor at the West Point US Military Academy. He is an author of a handful of books including On Killing and On Combat and coined the phrase "Killology". After his retirement from the Army, he now spends 300 days a year traveling for his work with law enforcement and military organizations and he is passionate about his subject matter.

This link is to an article and the first 3 of 4 video segments of the interview, configured to play one after another. All 4 segments runs a total of ~45-50 minutes.
